Job Summary | The Operations Specialist provides operational support for, oversees the day-to-day operations of, and serves as the first point of contact for the office of International Services for Students and Scholars (ISSS), and provides secondary support to the Office of International Programs (OIP). As a Youth Peer Advocate, you will be an ally, mentor, and advocate for clients and families as they contend with the difficulties and uncertainties of mental illness. You will use lived experience to contribute to treatment planning for each participant, and facilitating the team’s development and maintenance of a culture of respect. The Youth Assertive Community Treatment team (ACT) Program is an innovative treatment program. The program serves children with mental illness or serious emotional disturbance and their families. You will report to the Director of Youth Act and work onsite with community-based travel required.
Responsibilities:
- Engage individuals and establish trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goals clients identify on their treatment plans
- Contribute to client treatment plans, advocating for clients' needs
- Participate in daily treatment team meetings and work directly with other team members to provide support and assistance to program participants.
- Provide individual face-to-face support to youth and families receiving services
- Spend 70% or more of scheduled work hours in community settings
- Meet with family, youth, and collateral contacts to provide psychoeducation about serious mental illness
- Be a role model, educate recipients about self-help techniques and self-help group processes, teach effective coping strategies based on personal experience, teach symptom management skills, assist in clarifying rehabilitation and recovery goals, and assist in the development of community support systems and networks.
Requirements and Education:
- High School Diploma or GED, Associates Degree preferred
- A valid New York State driver’s license.
- Complete and obtain the NYCPS-Provisional certification for review by the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB) within the agreed-upon time of start date.

Job Summary | The Administrative Specialist independently performs a variety of advanced administrative tasks, in person, for the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies (CBIS). The Specialist works closely alongside the Administrative Coordinator to perform a variety of clerical tasks to ensure the efficiency of the department's processes. Job Summary | The Administrative Specialist serves as the primary point of contact in the Office of the President for visitors and callers and is responsible for ensuring that all parties receive prompt, professional and courteous attention when contacting the President’s Office. The Administrative Specialist may independently respond to inquiries, assist the visitor/caller on appropriate next steps, or direct to the appropriate person or department. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will will work as part of an OnTrackNY team with program participants, family members, and other team members.The Peer Specialist will use lived experience to contribute to treatment planning for each participant. You will report to the Director of OnTrack and will work on-site with travel required.
Responsibilities:
Use your personal recovery story to instill hope and demonstrate goal attainment, using selective self-disclosure about lived experience with mental health problems, substance use, and other aspects of their lives, maintaining a primary focus on the issues participants present.
Enhance initial outreach, engagement and retention efforts to help participants and families stay connected to the program.
Assist in engagement and retention activities to promote optimum involvement with the team, including helping team to maintain a youth-focused, recovery-oriented approach to outreach before and after participants enroll in the program.
Help individuals understand psychosis and develop and practice skills to help with illness management (individually or in groups).
Demonstrate interpersonal communication skills and the ability to empathize with, relate to and work with participants of mental health services.
Demonstrate excellent judgment and ability to understand boundaries when working with participants of mental health services and colleagues.
Participate in activities related to community awareness of recovery and stigma reduction.
Participate in outreach and recruitment activities with the team, forging relationships with community providers and conveying the “spirit of OnTrackNY”.
Provide concrete and social supports to clients and families through case management supporting participant’s efforts towards returning to school or work.
Aid participants and families as they transition from OnTrackNY services.
Participate in in-person team meetings (weekly) and consultation calls/trainings with OnTrackNY Central offices.
Requirements and Education:
Requires a HS diploma or GED. No prior related work experience required.
Requires New York Peer Specialist Certification (NYCPS).
Can accept a provisional Peer Certificate but must be fully certified within one year of employment.

Description
As a Peer Support Specialist, you will be a member of the Mobile Team, assisting the clinicians on Mobile visits and providing support and advocacy to individuals in crisis. You will also be a resource to the clinicians and case manager, through sharing their knowledge of common challenges individuals with SPMI endure and sharing knowledge about community resources. You will be an individual (adult) with lived experience with mental illness. You will report to the Clinical Site Supervisor and you will work on-site.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with service providers involved with individuals with SPMI.
- Provide information and peer to peer support to individuals who are served by the program.
- Educate and empower clients and their supports regarding their roles in developing crisis plans and in crisis prevention.
- Educate service providers regarding an individual's role in developing a crisis plan for themselves and in crisis prevention. Ensure that the individual is an integral part of the crisis planning process.
- Inform service providers (including Mobile Crisis and PCFC providers) regarding person- centered and strength-based practices. Maintain and model a focus on strengths.
- Utilize clinicians and clinical supervisor for advocacy for individuals served.
- Ensure that clients are satisfied with the services they are receiving and, if not, help them advocate for what they need.
- Educate individuals and primary caretakers on how to advocate if services are not meeting their needs.
- Be the liaison to other local supports in the community.
- Link individuals to Peer Support Services activities such as support groups, social events, newsletter.
